The p graphics on this game still look absolutely fantastic. Everything has a sparkly gleam that makes it look superbly new and almost space age. Plus, the course are so much more detailed thanks to flashing lights, branding, and other cool features to gawp at while trying to hold onto first place!
For those of you who remember being bored playing Mario Kart Wii over and over again, then having sixteen new tracks to race around must have been like experiencing Christmas Day all over again.
Having the option to customise karts and bikes and unlocking new parts brought a new dynamic to the series too. It allowed users to really get into the nitty gritty of their machines and make some changes to give them that winning edge. And of course, the battle modes are just as fun as ever.
New faces such as Iggy Koopa and Baby Rosalina join the party too, as do lots of new and exciting powerups for you to try! Shovel Knight takes the 11th spot in this list of the best Wii U games of all time! Back in the day when knights roamed the land and heroes reigned supreme, a dude with a shovel and a guy with a shield were the greatest warriors of them all. They were the best team ever, but all that changed when Shield Knight tragically fell in battle….
Now, the time has come for Shovel Knight to protect the land once again. You know the drill by now. Play players in the many different modes, creating a super brawl that the WWE would be proud of. Mii fighters can also join the action, but when Captain Falcon and Bowser are available, is there really any point? It might be available on the 3DS and the Wii U, but the Wii U version will always be my favourite… even if I do die first and have to watch my mates having fun… sigh.
Well, DK and Diddy are back in brand new side-scrolling action along with the rest of the gang, and man does it make for one hard to put down title. Dixie and Cranky Kong are playable characters this time too, each bringing their own spin to the game and their own unique abilities.
Collect the iconic golden KONG letters and solve puzzles as you progress through each of the stunning levels. Players discover the wonderful wooly world of Craft Island.
Tackle bosses, solve problems, and explore stunning 2. Players can also equip power badges to give them helpful abilities such as not dying when falling down a hole or skipping levels. Rayman Legends is up next, a game that has appeared on pretty much every console since the PS3 dropped into our lives.
Legends follows directly on from Origins and brings all of the same epic side-scrolling action to our TV screens. Rayman and Globox, along with the Teensies, have been asleep for one-hundred years…. Four players can team up and tackle each of the games exciting levels, and man is there a lot to soak up. Each stage has a depth to it that leaves players leaning in to soak up their environment like a sponge, and the gameplay is so fast paced that hours can fly by without you even realising.
The 6th spot in our list of the best Wii U games goes to the one and only Pikmin 3 , one of the only games that I love and hate in equal measure. The most noticeable difference in gameplay, compared to previous titles, is the incorporation of motion-sensing controls. Using the WiiMote and Mario Kart wheel, you'll be able to enjoy racing with family and friends like never before! As you twist and turn through the game's various racetracks, you'll grow to love the chaos of motion control racing.
The game also includes the option to play without motion controls, allowing gameplay with a regular and single controller! This game offers a total of 32 tracks for you to experience and enjoy.
Between four different modes — Versus, Grand Prix, Battle, and Time Trials — you'll have a variety of ways to play with friends, family, or even on your own.
In Grand Prix, play through four-track cups with a variety of familiar landscapes and environments if you're a fan of Mario. Battle mode offers two different modes — Coin Runners and Balloon. In these Battle modes, players use items to fight each other on two teams in special stages. Versus mode is the mode you'll play most, and allows you to choose from all 32 tracks to decide how long you'll race for, and the number of players up to four.
Finally, Time Trials allows you to track your time as you try to set records for tracks and laps. Overall, Mario Kart Wii is a fantastic racing game and an endlessly enjoyable group game that is definitely worth getting if you have a Wii.
Even though this game is on a console from a previous generation, it's uniqueness, and fun gameplay makes it feel exciting and relevant. The Super Smash Bros. Prior to the release of Ultimate, however, there were a number of great releases in the series on various consoles. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one of these games, and it offers the unique, engaging, and exciting gameplay that fans of the series have come to expect.
Brawl is an inventive game for a number of reasons. It's the first game in the Smash Bros. Brawl's strength as a game comes from its variety of modes and ways to play. In Subspace Emissary, choose between single-player or co-operative play as you make your way through an engaging story and a multitude of stages and bosses.
Brawl mode allows you to hop straight into battle against friends or computer players. All-Star mode and Classic mode are single-player modes All-Star offers co-op that provide additional challenges for those who've gotten through Subspace Emissary.
Events mode, Stadium mode, and Boss Battles are all multiplayer or single-player modes that offer unique challenges e. Whether you're looking to play with friends and family or by yourself, Brawl is an enjoyable fighting game.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a fantastic game that incorporates the elements that made previous games so great, and builds upon them while establishing its own unique tone and experience. Twilight Princess is a noticeably darker game than previous Zelda titles — both thematically and visually — and this contributes to an astounding amount of world-building, plot elements, even gameplay.
You play as Link, accompanied by an unfamiliar companion named Midna, and venture on a journey between two dimensions in an effort to save Hyrule. In the 'normal' dimension, you play as Link, but in the 'Twilight Realm' dimension, you play as a wolf.
Like many Zelda titles, Twilight Princess finds its strength as a game in its most challenging and engaging elements: the gorgeous visuals and general aesthetic, the challenging puzzles and detailed temples, the inventive and rewarding combat system, and the phenomenal soundtrack. All of these thoroughly developed and laboriously created gameplay elements comprise a breathtaking and unforgettable gaming experience. As you roam through Hyrule and the Twilight Realm and become increasingly acquainted with the world and its characters, you'll start to feel invested in your quest to save Hyrule and become aware of just how much detail the world has to offer.
Between the numerous bosses, the open exploration of Hyrule, the extremely large number of temples, and the 40 to hour playtime, Twilight Princess is a unique and compelling experience that serves as one of the Zelda series' masterpieces.
If you decide to give it a try, here's hoping that Twilight Princess becomes one of your favorite Zelda games or one of your favorite games in general.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a unique title in the Zelda series that tells the tale of the origin of the well-known and frequently-wielded Master Sword Link's infamous blade from previous titles. You play as Link, who lives in a town named Skyloft, a city that resides in the sky.
When your friend Zelda is captured and taken to a land beneath the clouds, it becomes your mission to leave Skyloft and rescue her. Between gorgeous painting-like visuals and an orchestra-backed soundtrack, Skyward Sword is nothing short of an immersive and enjoyable experience. Similarly to previous Zelda titles, gameplay involves Link fighting enemies with his sword and shield.
By swinging and shaking your WiiMote and Nunchuk, you'll be able to swing your sword and parry with your shield. Unlike previous Zelda titles, however, you'll be able to ride animals aside from horses! Fly gallantly on your Loftwing bird as you descend to the realm below. With the expansive world and a wide variety of puzzles, temples, and quests to discover and explore, Skyward Sword will keep you engaged from start to finish! As the title released between Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild, arguably two of the best titles in the series and two of the best role-playing games ever made, Skyward Sword had quite the reputation to live up to.
SH: SM features split storylines based on the decisions you make throughout the game think of it as a hidden personality test. A feature such as that could have been easily messed up, but the creators executed it perfectly. The game can tailor itself to fit you, which lends itself to some incredible creepiness considering it's an installment in the Silent Hill franchise.
In addition to that new feature, the game also contains the expected updated controls and graphics. All of these elements work together perfectly, which earns it the number 3 spot on the list. Madworld is a lot like No More Heroes in the fact that it's a visually stunning game with buckets of blood and copious profanity. However, unlike NMH, Madworld's art style is more akin to that of graphic novels and comic books.
Everything is stark black and white, except for the blood and the occasional comic-style sound effects that appear on screen. The story is clever, and the commentary is smart, funny, well thought out, and, most importantly, not annoying. Madworld offers everything from creative gameplay to stunning locales, and it all comes together in perfect harmony. The hip-hop soundtrack is a bonus as well, and the creativity of the game as a whole is very impressive.
This game is the perfect example of what the Wii is capable of, and the fact that it sold so few copies is an absolute travesty. Let me start off by saying that, not only is this without a doubt the best M-Rated game on Wii, but that I would even go so far as to say that it is the best game on the Wii, period. An all-new bonus mode, extras, and updated graphics just scratch the surface of the new features this game brings to the table.
The older version was amazing on it's own, but the developers went above and beyond in making improvements to an already great game. The part of this game that helps it stand out from the rest are, of course, the graphics. Most of the Wii's library consists of games that more often than not have awful graphics.
This game's graphics on the other hand, are anything but awful. The amount of detail and texture put into everything is astounding. I could write paragraphs upon paragraphs of how great this game's graphics are alone, but in reality they're only part of what makes this game great.
Though the compilation was technically discounted earlier this year, you can still find it for retail price. See our Super Mario Galaxy review. The sequel to the acclaimed original Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 once again took Mario to the heavens where he bounced between galaxies in a bid to save Princess Peach. The game is fondly remembered for taking the best parts of Super Mario Galaxy and adding on to them with even more of what people love.
There were new power-ups and the ability to ride Yoshi that opened up completely new and exciting opportunities for players. See our Super Mario Galaxy 2 review. Nintendo's beloved mascot fight game series came to Wii in with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and it was great. Released to both critical acclaim and massive sales, Brawl elevated the series to new heights with its expanded single-player mode, Subspace Emissary, and the addition of third-party characters on its roster, including Sonic and Snake, which would pave the way for Nintendo to further embrace crossover DLC with future games.
The game also allowed players to revert to classic GameCube controls instead of being forced to use the Wii Remote--this was a widely praised move from the fighting game community and players at large who wanted a more precise control setup for the button-mashing game. Here at GameSpot, we adored Brawl, calling it a must-have game thanks to its simple yet deep control setup, excellent online play, and for its new features like the ability to create custom levels and watch replays.
See our Super Smash Bros. Brawl review. Wii Sports was much more than one of the best-selling for any system of all time thanks to how it was bundled with the Wii. It represented the "eureka" moment for many people as they first tried the system. Connecting with a tennis serve and smacking a well-placed backhand with force, or lining up a bowling ball just right, or nailing the timing with the baseball bat to crush a home run to center field--it felt so new and fresh with the Wii's innovative motion controls.
It felt magical, with motion controls being a relatively new gameplay control style at the time.
