You can also try this trick Sounds crazy, but this trick has saved me a few times. The problem is a dead battery inside the unit, open it up and change the battery that looks similar to that of a watch, but slightly bigger.
You're video card and everything else is fine, don't throw ur computer away from BAD advice. Your info was correct. I removed two! GB memory sticks and it returned to normal. Very helpful.
Thanks again. I tested another monitor then I replaced the video card, the "watch battery", and removed the extra memory stick, nothing is working. The amber light just comes on along with the message power save mode, is this pc just bad? What else can I do? I removed two 1 GB memory sticks, screen back to normal. Then replaced both memory sticks and screen works fine. Now my boss thinks I'm a computer genius. I have the same problem no signal and power saving.
When i pull the power cord and press the power button for more than 20sec and turn it on again it works all the time but today when i turn my pc on i did all the tricks again but it does not work this time what should be the possible reasons? Please help me :. I find it funny everyone is saying it's the video card and not one of you have mentioned the power supply.
I had the same problem with a Dell studio xps I changed the video card and it worked for about a week then started again. I ended up putting my test power supply in and it has been running fine for 3 months. Don't forget power supplies do get worn out. I don't have any memory sticks. For a few weeks, I've been unable to put the computer to "sleep" -- instead I have had to power off at night, power on in the morning.
Today, however, it will not boot up no matter what I do! If I press the buttons on the side of the Dell monitor, it says " There is no signal coming from your computer. Press any key on the keyboard to wake it up. That doesn't work either. It sounds as though your system may be having issues completing the POST sequence which may be why your monitor is not showing any video signal from the system. When you first switch the system on, please check the power button on the system - this may show a flashing amber light or a steady amber light rather than the standard steady white light.
Please tell us if that is the case. Also, do you hear any beeps coming from the system? If so, please count the beeps and tell us how many you hear. Lastly, if you can tell us what Dell Studio model you have, this would also be a great help.
If you're unsure, please send me a private message with your service tag this is a seven character alphanumeric code and should be on a sticker attached to the system.
